Vallein Tercinier Brut de Fût Lot 86 – Bons Bois Cognac
The Vallein Tercinier Brut de Fût Lot 86 is a remarkable Single Cask Cognac from the Bons Bois cru, bottled at natural cask strength. This release showcases the traditional style of Vallein Tercinier—expressive, authentic, and unaltered, with no chill filtration and natural colour preserved.
Distilled in 1986 and bottled in 2025 from a French oak cask (Cask No. 0155), only 500 bottles were produced. At 48.7% ABV, this Cognac offers an intense yet balanced profile that highlights both the character of the terroir and the maturity gained through decades of ageing.
On the nose, the Lot 86 reveals aromas of caramel, orange zest, beeswax, and soft spice. The palate is smooth yet vibrant, showing layers of fruit, vanilla, and gentle oak. The finish extends gracefully, leaving impressions of roasted nuts, cocoa, and subtle rancio.
Presentation of the bottle
The Vallein Tercinier Brut de Fût Lot 86 comes in an elegant, tall bottle with clean lines and a classic white label displaying all cask information. The capsule and packaging use refined tones of white and deep burgundy with golden accents, giving it a premium look. The outer box highlights the limited nature of this release, featuring the estate’s crest and clear reference to its single cask origin.
How to drink
This Cognac is best enjoyed neat in a tulip glass, allowing its natural aromas to unfold fully. For a slightly different experience, it can be left to rest in the glass for several minutes before tasting, which brings out more depth and softness. Given its natural strength, a few drops of water may be added to open up the bouquet even further.
