Tasting Notes and Characteristics:The first sip of The Prisoner Pinot Noir Sonoma feels like velvet draped across your palate, unfolding layers of ripe black cherry, wild strawberry, and a subtle hint of baking spice that lingers with every swirl. Crafted in the United States with meticulous attention to the expressive nature of Sonoma fruit, this Pinot Noir balances its vibrant acidity and supple tannins at 14.50% ABV. Its plush texture and earthy undertones make it a natural companion for lamb chops sizzling off the grill or a creamy mushroom risotto, where each bite draws out the wine’s savory depth and silken finish.Producer Information: The Prisoner Wine CompanyThe Prisoner Wine Company, based in Napa Valley, California, was founded in 2000 by winemaker Dave Phinney, who drew inspiration from the region’s rich history of blending unconventional varietals. The winery quickly gained attention for its bold approach to winemaking, particularly through its signature red blends that combine Zinfandel with Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Charbono sourced from diverse vineyards across Northern California. Emphasizing a philosophy rooted in creative freedom and nontraditional blending techniques, The Prisoner Wine Company has expanded its portfolio to include other distinctive wines such as Saldo Zinfandel and Cuttings Cabernet Sauvignon. Their focus on sourcing fruit from select appellations within Napa Valley and neighboring regions allows them to craft wines that reflect both the terroir and their innovative spirit.
