W.L. Weller Aged 12 Years Bourbon Whiskey – 750 mLKentucky Straight Wheated Bourbon | 45% ABV (90 Proof)
Process & Profile
This expression is Buffalo Trace’s flagship 12‑year‑age‑stated wheated bourbon, using the original 1849 Weller mash bill—corn, wheat, and malted barley. Aged a full 12 years in charred new American oak, it’s bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV), non‑chill‑filtered, with natural color and a silky texture that showcases its maturity.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Almond, lanolin, creamed corn, vanilla, and gentle oak spice
Palate: Rich caramel, honey nut, cherry, orange zest, dark chocolate, tobacco leaf
Finish: Long, smooth, and oaky with notes of cocoa powder, dried fruit, and light spice
What Makes It Special
One of the few wheated bourbons with a true 12‑year age statement, far older than typical wheated bourbons
A benchmark of smooth, approachable bourbon with refined aging depth
Widely revered as “liquid Pappy” flavor in a more accessible format
Bottled at 90 proof for balance and drinkability
Highly collectible, often underscored by scarcity and high secondary prices
How to Enjoy
Best served neat in a Glencairn glass to let aromas evolve. A splash of water softens tannins and elevates fruit and spice notes. It also works well over ice and in classic cocktails like an Old Fashioned when you want elegance over heat.
