Process & Profile
The Balvenie 12 Year 1931 Collection Limited Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky celebrates the distillery’s traditional floor maltings. Made entirely from barley malted at The Balvenie, this expression highlights a process that remains central to the distillery’s identity and honeyed house style.
Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie selected American oak maturation followed by finishing in European oak ex-sherry bodega butts from Jerez, Spain. The resulting whisky brings together honey, warm biscuit, and creamy toffee with raisin, ginger, and delicate spice, leading into a rich, velvety finish.
The collection commemorates the opening of Balvenie’s Home Malt Floor in 1931 and draws inspiration from the distillery’s remarkable 88-year-old whisky. Artist Daniel Arsham designed the packaging, using tactile surfaces and copper-and-verdigris tones that connect the presentation to the materials of the distillery.
