The winery was founded in 1948 by the Trinchero family, who immigrated from Italy and purchased a small, abandoned winery with the vision of creating approachable wines for American consumers. Sutter Home’s production approach centers on accessible winemaking techniques that emphasize fruit-forward flavors and consistent quality across large volumes. Their commitment to innovation led to the introduction of White Zinfandel in the 1970s, which played a significant role in popularizing blush wines throughout the United States.Beyond their flagship White Zinfandel, Sutter Home offers an extensive portfolio that includes varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Grigio, Moscato, and Sauvignon Blanc. The winery also produces sweet reds and rosés to cater to diverse palates. In addition to still wines, Sutter Home has expanded into producing wine-based cocktails and single-serve packaging options like mini bottles for convenience-driven consumers. While primarily focused on wine production rather than spirits or beer brewing, their broad selection ensures wide appeal among both casual drinkers and those seeking value-driven California wines.
