A Masterfully Distilled XO Cognac from the Fins Bois and Petite Champagne
One of the finest Cognacs to emerge from the fiery pot stills of the Distillerie Vinet Delpech, this is the Les Bruleries Modernes Delpech-Fougerat XO Cognac.
Named after the ‘burning’ Charentais stills as the grapes transform into eaux-de-vie over lees, this has been blended using grapes grown in their hundred-hectare vineyard in the Petite Champagne and Fins Bois growth areas.
Offering exceedingly good value for money for a Cognac of this quality, the Delpech Fougerat XO Cognac is a worthy winner of many industry awards. Deep in color, as one would expect of a Cognac of this quality, it makes a wonderful digestif enjoyed neat.
The blend of eaux-de-vie is presented in traditional style bottle with a contemporary label – and is a great choice if you’re looking to try a Cognac from this as yet relatively unknown Cognac house. One could argue that these are truly masters distillers.
In fact, their distillation heritage extends all the way back to the fifteenth century, when the first producers would use a Charentais pot still to craft the earliest versions of eaux-de-vie.
Aged for a minimum of 10 years in oak barrels, but the magic also happens in the swans neck pipe of the Charentais pot still. This is where the true aromatic quality of a Cognac develops.
So sit back, and properly enjoy the aromas of candied orange, prune, grape and hazelnut on the nose before taking your first sip.
