The estate traces its origins to the late nineteenth century, when a family of local vintners established vineyards on clay-limestone soils ideal for Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Over generations, Château Sablard has maintained a commitment to traditional viticulture, employing sustainable farming methods and hand-harvesting grapes to preserve fruit integrity. Their winemaking process emphasizes minimal intervention, allowing terroir expression through careful fermentation and aging in French oak barrels.Beyond their flagship Fronsac red wines, Château Sablard produces limited quantities of white Bordeaux blends featuring Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. The estate also crafts a small batch rosé from direct-pressed Merlot grapes, offering fresh acidity and delicate fruit notes. In recent years, they have expanded into artisanal spirits by distilling grape marc into fine eau-de-vie using copper pot stills. This diversification reflects their dedication to quality across multiple beverage categories while showcasing regional grape varieties in both wine and distilled forms.
