Stranahan’s 7 Year Sherry Cask American Single Malt Whiskey
American Single Malt Whiskey | Single Estate | 45% ABV | 90 Proof | 750mL | Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask Finish
Process & Profile
Stranahan’s 7 Year Sherry Cask American Single Malt Whiskey combines Colorado-distilled single malt with the rich influence of Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks. The new age-stated bottling now proudly carries a 7 Year Age Statement, confirming that the youngest whiskey in the bottle has matured for at least seven years.
Made from 100% malted barley, the whiskey is double distilled at Stranahan’s distillery in Denver, Colorado. It is initially matured in virgin American white oak barrels before being transferred into Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks sourced from the Andalusia region of southern Spain.
The sweet Sherry casks introduce layers of raisins, figs, dates, cherries, honey, and rich fruit while complementing the malt’s caramel, chocolate, and oak character. Bottled at 90 proof, the current expression delivers concentrated Sherry influence without overwhelming the underlying American single malt.
The current bottle also carries a Single Estate designation, further distinguishing this new presentation of Stranahan’s Sherry Cask.
Tasting Notes

What Makes It Special
The new 7-year age statement is one of the most important features of this release. Previous Stranahan’s Sherry Cask bottlings could contain a marriage of younger whiskey, while the newly labeled version guarantees that every whiskey in the bottle has matured for at least seven years.
Pedro Ximénez cask finishing adds another distinctive layer. PX Sherry is known for concentrated dried-fruit and sweet flavors, which translate into notes of raisins, figs, dates, jam, honey, and dark fruit alongside Stranahan’s malt-driven character.
The combination of a 7 Year Age Statement, Single Estate designation, 100% malted barley, and Pedro Ximénez Sherry cask finish gives this expression a clear identity within the growing American single malt category.
At 90 proof, it maintains enough structure to showcase its chocolate, fruit, caramel, nutty, and Sherry-driven flavors while remaining approachable for sipping neat.
How to Enjoy
Enjoy Stranahan’s 7 Year Sherry Cask neat in a tulip-shaped whiskey glass to experience its dried fruit, honey, cherry, fig, chocolate, and caramel character.
Allowing the whiskey to rest briefly can help its PX Sherry aromas develop. A small splash of water may open additional fruit, walnut, caramel, and malt notes while softening the oak and spice.
It can also be served over one large ice cube, although drinking it neat or with a small amount of water provides the clearest expression of its seven-year maturation and Sherry cask finish.
