Officially established in 1858 as the O.F.C. Distillery by Edmund Haynes Taylor Jr., it has continuously operated through Prohibition and multiple ownership changes, making it one of America’s oldest distilleries. Buffalo Trace is distinguished by its commitment to traditional methods such as using century-old fermenters and a unique climate-controlled aging process that leverages Kentucky’s seasonal temperature swings for optimal barrel maturation.
