Founded by Warren Winiarski, the estate is deeply rooted in its unique terroir characterized by volcanic soils and a temperate climate that fosters balanced ripening and expressive fruit. The winery’s philosophy centers on crafting wines that reflect both power and elegance, with meticulous vineyard management and restrained oak use to highlight varietal purity. While best known for their Cabernet Sauvignon from estate vineyards like SLV and Fay, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars also produces Merlot and Chardonnay that showcase the district’s signature finesse. Their focus remains exclusively on still wines from classic Bordeaux and Burgundy varieties grown within Napa Valley, emphasizing site expression over volume or diversification into spirits or other beverage categories.
