Tasting Notes
Appearance: Radiant gold with glints of amber, reflecting long, patient aging.
Nose: Clean mountain air intertwined with green herbs, pine, and a wisp of campfire smoke. Hints of apple, pear, and fresh citrus add a bright counterpoint to earthy moss and honeyed malt.
Palate: Elegant and refined. The peat is gentle, enveloping the palate in soft smoke and subtle spice. Notes of grapefruit zest, green tea, and roasted barley emerge alongside delicate sweetness from the oak. Each sip evolves, revealing layers of forest herbs and fruit-laced minerality.
Finish: Long, balanced, and graceful — the smoke slowly fades, leaving lingering impressions of citrus peel, oak spice, and clean mountain freshness.
Where Nature Meets Precision
The Hakushu Distillery sits deep within the forests of Japan’s Southern Alps in Yamanashi Prefecture. Surrounded by crisp air and pure spring water, it has earned the nickname “the forest distillery.” This pristine environment shapes Hakushu’s distinct character — fresh, herbal, and clean. The 18 Year Old Peated Malt 2025 Edition deepens this identity, weaving subtle smoke through the distillery’s hallmark brightness.
