Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What makes Stranahan’s Mountain Angel 12 Year different from other American single malts?
This whiskey is aged for 12 years in the Rocky Mountains, where extreme temperature shifts create an exceptionally deep and rich profile. The finishing in Port wine casks adds layers of dark fruit, spice, and oak complexity.
2. How does high-altitude aging affect the flavor?
Due to Denver’s high elevation, evaporation rates are much higher, leading to an over 80% angel’s share loss. This concentrates the flavors, making it richer and more complex than many single malts.
3. Is this a limited release?
Yes, Mountain Angel 12 Year is a highly limited edition and one of the rarest expressions from Stranahan’s. Once sold out, it is unlikely to be re-released.
4. What proof is Mountain Angel 12 Year?
The proof can vary slightly between batches but generally falls between 94 and 100 proof (47-50% ABV).
5. How should I drink Mountain Angel 12 Year?
This whiskey is best enjoyed neat or with a splash of water to fully experience its complex layers. It also pairs well with dark chocolate, aged cheese, and fine cigars.
