Hennessy VSOP Privilege 200th Year Anniversary Special Edition Cognac (750ml)
Hennessy, a producer founded by Richard Hennessy in 1765, is recognized globally for its Cognac. The VSOP Privilege expression traces its origins to 1817, when the future King George IV of England requested a “very superior old pale” Cognac. This 200th Year Anniversary Special Edition was released in 2018 to mark two centuries since the original royal commission, honoring the history of this renowned Cognac.
The creation of Hennessy Cognac begins in the Cognac region of France, where all grapes for this spirit must be grown and processed. Hennessy exclusively utilizes Ugni Blanc grapes, known for their high acidity and low alcohol content, making them suitable for distillation. The grapes are pressed and fermented into wine, which then undergoes a double distillation process in traditional Charentais copper pot stills to yield eaux-de-vie. These clear spirits are aged in French oak barrels, allowing them to develop complexity. While VSOP requires a minimum of four years of aging, Hennessy often extends this period. The final blend consists of around 60 carefully selected eaux-de-vie.
This Hennessy VSOP Privilege 200th Year Anniversary Special Edition Cognac is presented in a 750 ml bottle. It has an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 40%. This offering is a special, limited edition commemorating the 200th anniversary of the VSOP Privilege expression.
