EH Taylor Flood Surviving Bourbon
Step into rare bourbon lore with one of the most remarkable and coveted releases in Buffalo Trace history: E.H. Taylor, Jr. Flood Surviving Single Barrel Bourbon. Born out of extraordinary resilience, this mythical expression honors the enduring legacy of Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr., and the historic distillery built to withstand the elements.
Available now at World of Whiskey Shop, this legendary bottling originated from a catastrophic flood at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. While severe flooding submerged low-lying barrel warehouses along the Kentucky River, select single barrels survived the natural disaster in high-elevation rickhouses. Left to mature under unique temperature fluctuations and humidity shifts caused by the historic flooding event, the surviving oak casks underwent an accelerated, intense wood interaction that yielded an astonishingly complex and rich flavor profile.
In the glass, it presents a deep mahogany-copper color with slow, heavy legs. The nose opens with an intense, haunting bouquet of dark honey, toasted oak, leather, and pipe tobacco, followed by rich caramel, dark chocolate, and dried fig. On the palate, a lush, full-bodied viscosity delivers powerful layers of butterscotch, charred oak, toasted cinnamon, and dark cherry, perfectly balanced by rich vanilla cream and warm baking spice. Bottled at Colonel Taylor’s signature 100 Proof (50% ABV) Bottled-in-Bond style, the finish is extraordinarily long, warm, and memorable, leaving lingering notes of dark oak, sweet molasses, and spicy rye.
An ultimate centerpiece for elite bourbon collectors and Buffalo Trace enthusiasts, E.H. Taylor Flood Surviving Single Barrel is best savored neat in a crystal Glencairn glass. Order your bottle today from World of Whiskey Shop.
