Louis Royer Carnet de Cave n°4 Cognac
Carnet de Cave n°4 is the fourth release in Louis Royer’s limited “cellar-book” series. Each eau-de-vie in the blend has rested a minimum of twenty years in the house’s humid warehouses beside the Charente, giving a rich, spice-led profile. Bottled at 45 % vol in 50 cl format, the expression shows depth without losing the bright fruit that defines the house style.
Presentation of the bottle
The tall, slender bottle flows from curved shoulders into a thick glass base. A cream label—ruled like a cellar notebook—features the Louis Royer bee emblem and the line “Carnet de Cave n°4”. A bold purple band wraps around the mid-section with “20 ans” picked out in copper lettering, instantly signalling age and style. Near the base, a matching purple information panel notes cask number 405, 45 % vol and the individual bottle count. The neck is closed with natural cork and a paper strip printed “Louis Royer”. The bottle is housed in an untreated wooden case etched with a pine-cone motif and bee logo; a purple band repeats the age statement, creating a smart, cohesive look drawn directly from the image provided.
How to drink
Serve neat in a tulip glass at room temperature and allow two to three minutes for the pepper and cedar aromas to open fully. One small ice cube softens the spice for summer evenings, while a 1 : 3 pour with chilled soda water makes an elegant highball. Ideal partners include dark chocolate spiced with clove or a mild Nicaraguan cigar, both mirroring the Cognac’s warming finish.
