First created in 1870 by Maurice Hennessy for his inner circle of family and friends, Hennessy X.O established the entire X.O classification. It is masterfully composed from a selection of over 100 mature eaux-de-vie aged up to 30 years in aged French oak casks, selected from the four finest crus of the Cognac region: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, and Fins Bois.
In the glass, it presents a deep, luminous amber hue with mahogany glints. The nose opens with an opulent, multi-layered bouquet of candied orange peel, dried figs, dark plum, and cinnamon, seamlessly framed by aged oak, leather, and cocoa. On the palate, a velvety, full-bodied structure delivers a magnificent sequence of flavors—starting with rich dark chocolate, candied fruit, and warm cardamom, transitioning into deep wood tannins, roasted coffee, and black pepper. Bottled at 80 Proof (40% ABV), the finish is extraordinarily long, warm, and luxurious, leaving lingering notes of sweet spice, tobacco, and old oak.
