Rare Release
Willett Family Estate 10-Year Rye Barrel #1518 “Ashes To Ashes” is a striking entry in Willett’s celebrated single-barrel program. Bottled at cask strength and aged for a full decade, this release stands out not just for its rarity but for the dramatic intensity its name suggests. The mash bill leans heavily into rye character, giving it that spicy backbone connoisseurs love, while non-chill filtering ensures every ounce of texture and flavor is preserved. It’s a collector’s item with serious sipping credibility.
On the palate, it comes alive with layers of warm baking spice—think cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom—that intermingle with dark cocoa and candied orange peel. The rye asserts itself with classic herbal notes of dill and menthol, wrapped in a rich caramel sweetness that coats the mouth. It has a dense, almost chewy texture, and the long, spicy finish glows with oak, hints of leather, and lingering citrus. Each sip is a slow burn of complexity, rewarding those who take their time to savor it.
