Tasting Notes and Characteristics:The Glenlivet Nadurra Oloroso greets the palate with a rich, warming character that feels perfect for slow evenings or special gatherings. Bottled at cask strength with an ABV of 60.7%, this single malt is crafted in Scotland and matured exclusively in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks, which imparts a deep complexity and robust texture. On tasting, you’ll find layers of dried fruit, dark chocolate, and warm spices mingling with hints of orange zest and toasted nuts. These flavors make it an excellent companion to roast lamb, where its sherried sweetness complements the savory meat, or alongside dark chocolate for a luxurious dessert pairing that highlights its velvety finish.Producer Information: The Glenlivet DistilleryThe Glenlivet Distillery is located in the Speyside region of Scotland, specifically near Ballindalloch in Moray. Founded in 1824 by George Smith, The Glenlivet was one of the first legal distilleries in the area following the Excise Act, which encouraged legal whisky production. The distillery is known for its traditional methods, including copper pot stills and oak cask maturation, which contribute to its signature smooth and fruity single malt Scotch whisky profile. The pure water sourced from Josie’s Well and a slow distillation process are central to their approach, ensuring consistency and quality across each batch.Beyond their flagship single malt expressions such as The Glenlivet 12 Year Old, the distillery offers a diverse portfolio that includes older age statements like 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve and 18 Year Old as well as limited edition releases. They have also experimented with cask finishes using American oak, sherry casks, and rum barrels to create unique flavor profiles within their range. In addition to classic single malts, The Glenlivet has introduced non-age statement whiskies such as Founder’s Reserve and Nadurra series that appeal to both new enthusiasts and seasoned collectors. Their innovation extends into travel retail exclusives and small-batch bottlings that highlight different aspects of Speyside terroir while maintaining a commitment to heritage-driven craftsmanship.
